bKash Personal Number with WooCommerce: Add Automatic Confirmation

You can collect WooCommerce payments on a bKash personal number by asking the customer to send money and enter the TrxID, then checking it yourself. To avoid doing this by hand, you can add automatic confirmation that reads the payment SMS on your shop phone and marks the order paid. This only works if your wallet provider's terms allow you to use the number this way, which you must check yourself.

How shops commonly collect on a personal number

Without a merchant account, a typical setup looks like this. The checkout page shows your bKash number and the total. The customer opens their wallet app, uses Send Money, then returns to the shop and types the TrxID or sends a screenshot. The order stays on hold until you check your phone and change its status to processing by hand.

It is simple to set up and costs nothing to start, which is why many small shops begin here.

The problems with the manual way

Adding automatic confirmation with QRPayBD

QRPayBD keeps the same payment method, a personal wallet number that receives Send Money, and automates the checking. A free Collector app on your Android phone reads the payment-received SMS and sends it to your QRPayBD account. QRPayBD matches it to the order and the WooCommerce plugin marks the order paid. QRPayBD does not hold or move money, does not log in to bKash and never asks for your PIN, password or OTP.

The customer pays to your own number. The QRPayBD payment page shows your wallet number, the exact amount and an order reference (QP-XXXX). If the wallet app has a Reference field, the customer types the reference there and the order can confirm automatically. Otherwise they enter the TrxID on the payment page, and QRPayBD checks it against the SMS.

Setup steps, in order

  1. Create a QRPayBD account. You need an email, a password and your shop name. It is free during early access.
  2. Add your wallet number as a payment method in your dashboard.
  3. Install the Collector app on the Android phone that receives your payment SMS. Download it from the Downloads page, allow SMS access and pair it with the code from your dashboard. Turn off battery optimisation for the app so the phone does not stop it.
  4. Download the WordPress plugin from the Downloads page. In WordPress go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin, choose the zip file and activate it. You can also find it in the WordPress plugin directory by searching for QRPayBD Payments.
  5. In WooCommerce go to Settings, Payments, QRPayBD. Enter the QRPayBD address, your store API key and your webhook secret from Store setup in the dashboard. Copy the webhook address shown on that page back into Store setup.
  6. Place a small test order, pay it from a real wallet and watch the order change to paid.

The plugin needs WordPress 6.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. For WooCommerce checkout the store currency must be BDT. It also adds an Elementor Pay Button widget if you use Elementor.

What to know before you rely on it

The message readers for bKash, Nagad and Upay have been verified on real payments. SMS is not an official API, so a message can be delayed, missed or reworded, and some payments may need a manual match from the Unmatched inbox in your dashboard. Test with one small payment before you switch your whole checkout.

What the customer sees at checkout

After the customer chooses QRPayBD at checkout and places the order, the plugin sends them to the QRPayBD payment page. They see the shop's name, the exact amount, your wallet number and the order reference. They pay in their wallet app, and the page updates by itself once the payment is confirmed. The order in WooCommerce changes to paid when the webhook arrives. The plugin also re-checks pending orders every few minutes in case a webhook is lost.

Check your provider's terms for personal numbers

Wallet providers may restrict business use of personal accounts in their own terms. That is true for bKash and for other wallets. QRPayBD is not affiliated with any of them and cannot give you permission. You, as the shop owner, are responsible for reading the current terms and following them. If you are unsure, ask the provider directly.

The alternative: an official merchant API

If your provider offers a merchant account with an official payment API, that is the intended route for business payments, and you should use it if you have it. Support for official merchant APIs in QRPayBD is planned but not available yet. If it arrives, shops would bring their own merchant credentials. Until then, QRPayBD works only by reading SMS for personal wallet numbers.
